Tuck Professor Focuses on Toy Giving

Submitted by lucas20 on Wed, 11/28/2007 - 14:48.

This time of year you hear a lot about what toys are selling the most. We all remember different toy crazes around this time, think Tickle-Me Elmo. Tuck Business School (Dartmouth) professor Eric Johnson is taking a economics approach to toys to determine what tech toys "you should be giving."

"To develop the list of nine toys, the team focused on whether the 'play value' that results from technology innovation can balance any increased cost. Play value, Johnson said, is defined as the length and extent of a child’s 'excitement for the cost.'"
