Utah Business School Funding Left Out

Submitted by lucas20 on Mon, 03/03/2008 - 21:06.

The Utah State Legislature, it seems, will not be awarding money to the University of Utah to help renovate its David Eccles School of Business building. Without funding from the legislature, which still has a slim chance of getting in, the university will cut back, but not eliminate, the proposed renovations. The school has done well raising private funds for the renovation - around $80 million, or nearly 75% of total costs.

In 2006, the legislature approved $200 million to fund Utah State and University of Utah under the USTAR program. The program aims at to recruiting "world-class researchers and build state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research and development facilities and to form first-rate science, innovation, and commercialization teams across the State."

Currently, BYU (Mariott) is the only undergradate program in the state that is ranked (#7) in the Business Week top 100 undergraduate programs
