PACCAR (NASDAQ: PCAR) Donates $18 Million to UW's Foster
The Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington has received an $18 million grant from PACCAR (NASDAQ: PCAR). The money will go toward the building of a new facility for the school, which has the ambitious goal of becoming the best public business school in the country. "We have great faculty and great students, but right now our current facility doesn’t signal quality and is not functional for our purposes," said James Jiambalvo, dean of the school. Naming rights have been given in exchange for the grant and it has been confirmed that the building will be PACCAR Hall. Just last year the B-School was renamed for Foster after his family's $50 million gift.
The business school is part of the Princeton Review's 290 Best Business Schools and is #6 for best campus environment. Surprising after what we heard from Jiambalvo above. According to Business Week UW has the 16th best part-time MBA program, but is not part of their top 30 full-time programs. The undergraduate program is #25.
